Bike bike bike!

I bought a new bike recently! It is something that I have been putting off since last summer. I don't know what happened to that plan. But I got lucky and recently my good buddy Celeste bought a bike for cheap! However she decided in the end that it was not a good fit for her size so she offered it to me for the same price, after she had her bike nerd friends fix it up. So of course I jumped on that deal (only $150!) and now I am the proud owner of a bike!

Just the cherry on top for my Brooklyn living.

She actually bought a new (old) bike the same day she sold me mine. So now we are bike buddies! Mine is the one on the right. It's a humble bike but I like it.

(photo from Mikey's iPhone, while we took a break in the middle of the bridge...)

I rode from 23rd street back to Brooklyn on Tuesday, all the way across the Manhattan bridge. So exhilarating and very, very fucking tiring. Bike riding is way harder than I remember it was when I was younger. Shit! Just goes to show how out of shape I am. My whole body is sore after two days, still. Totally gained respect for those people who attend spin classes regularly.

However the most important thing is... BEACH BODY IN THE MAKING!!!!

I am going to be smoking hot this summer.
I've never worn lipstick before because I don't think I have the face for it. I kind of have a androgynous baby face sometimes so thought it would be ridiculous if I tried to pull off a red lip. Plus I am not one of those girls who own massive makeup collections so I didn't think I could incorporate a lip color into my daily look (my only look, really).

But I was home alone today, and my roommate actually bought her first lipstick recently so I decided to sneak into her room and try some for fun.

That photo above looks odd because I am not wearing any contact lenses, huh? It's funny how used I have gotten to seeing myself with these huge eyes. I wear them every day! But recently I ran out of lenses and haven't had enough money to buy a new pair until a few days ago (WHERE ARE THEY?! I hate waiting for things to arrive in the mail...)
I know websites always say the lenses are good for one year, but I am paranoid and I usually throw them out after 2 months maximum. I just don't believe that they can stay sterile and clean for that long especially since regular lenses from my eye doctor are recommended to be thrown out every 2-4 weeks of wear. I have heard horror stories from girls who get eye infections from not keeping their circle lenses fresh. My eyesight is pretty important to me, don't know about other people...

Anyway, the color is Stila's Long Wear Liquid Lip Color in Fiery. It was amazing, actually, if you are looking for a classic red lip. Super creamy opaque color that dries matte. Not sticky and it's very lightweight. According to my roommate, once it dries, it's almost impossible to get it off without makeup remover. You can wear it the whole day and just put lip balm over it if you feel your lips are getting too dry.

When I first put it on, I was staring at myself in the mirror thinking that I looked like some harlot. But after a while, I think I could get used to it! Just not today. I already scrubbed it off my face since I have to go out and see Mikey and a friend later... not sure if they're ready for this side of me HAHA.

New nails! Again!

I went to Sakura Nail Spa in the Lower East Side with Jessie yesterday. They have more selection than Marie Nails, but I realized that for certain things (like anything involving glitter for some reason), they are a little more expensive. But their decor and atmosphere beats Marie Nails by leaps and bounds, so I guess it comes down to "you get what you pay for"? Also, their tables seat two people at a time, so it's much better for a girl's day out since you can actually sit and talk to your friend! At Marie Nails, there are only four tables and they're lined up one after another so it's impossible to chat...

I think I might go back to Marie Nails next time though... Depends on what I think of for my next set, I guess. I'm not made of money!

Opted for something more neutral this time. I always pick dark colors for my nail polish, so I wanted to try something more mature and elegant?

Sakura Nail Spa has little decals you can put on your nails; I only found out because initially I wanted to get acrylic 3D nail art done (I wanted white bows!!), but apparently they don't do that at Sakura because they keep all of their products "all natural". The girl who worked there handed me a little album of decals instead, but I wasn't disappointed! They had all sorts of little things you could put on your nails, like fruits, hearts, bows, flowers, etc. I got a rose on each hand because I couldn't find anything else that matched my particular nail color... kinda looks like a bridal set but meh.

Jessie's set! A pink glitter gradation. I can never capture glitter correctly on camera, unfortunately... the effect is always so much more sparkly and pretty in person! I actually think it's much cheaper to get a glitter gradation at Marie Nails... I think last time I even got a double glitter gradation and it might have been the same price, give or take like 10 dollars? BUT!!! At Sakura, they have an entire sheet of glitter swatches to choose from, and they are all gorgeous. Much more for your imagination... Marie's selection is probably about half the size. :( Pros and cons!
