I went to Sakura Nail Spa in the Lower East Side with
Jessie yesterday. They have more selection than Marie Nails, but I realized that for certain things (like anything involving glitter for some reason), they are a little more expensive. But their decor and atmosphere beats Marie Nails by leaps and bounds, so I guess it comes down to "you get what you pay for"? Also, their tables seat two people at a time, so it's much better for a girl's day out since you can actually sit and talk to your friend! At Marie Nails, there are only four tables and they're lined up one after another so it's impossible to chat...
I
think I might go back to Marie Nails next time though... Depends on what I think of for my next set, I guess. I'm not made of money!
Opted for something more neutral this time. I always pick dark colors for my nail polish, so I wanted to try something more mature and elegant?
Sakura Nail Spa has little decals you can put on your nails; I only found out because initially I wanted to get acrylic 3D nail art done (I wanted white bows!!), but apparently they don't do that at Sakura because they keep all of their products "all natural". The girl who worked there handed me a little album of decals instead, but I wasn't disappointed! They had all sorts of little things you could put on your nails, like fruits, hearts, bows, flowers, etc. I got a rose on each hand because I couldn't find anything else that matched my particular nail color... kinda looks like a bridal set but meh.

Jessie's set! A pink glitter gradation. I can never capture glitter correctly on camera, unfortunately... the effect is always so much more sparkly and pretty in person! I actually think it's much cheaper to get a glitter gradation at Marie Nails... I think last time I even got a double glitter gradation and it might have been the same price, give or take like 10 dollars? BUT!!! At Sakura, they have an entire sheet of glitter swatches to choose from, and they are all gorgeous. Much more for your imagination... Marie's selection is probably about half the size. :( Pros and cons!
As always you can click on the photos for a larger version. ^^

Love your nails! the little flower makes me want spring even more!! And Jessie's nails match her personality perfectly! *I hope your nails last you a long time! (resist the hand lotion!!!) <3
Thanks Jean! I hope they do too!! T_____T
Wow, both of your nails look so pretty!! I've heard that Sakura is pretty expensive, so that was a turn off to me especially when I know that Marie Nails does such a good job. It sounds nice though~
Do you know if Marie Nails uses stickers too? I think for my next manicure I want a flower design but I'm wondering how they'll do it...
Oh! Marie Nails most definitely has 3D acrylic stuff. they can mold it into any shape! my friend got bows done last time she went, it was really cute. i forgot about the price but i think that depends on how elaborate you want the 3D shape to be.
i'm not sure if they have stickers, but maybe! when i was flipping through the little book they had at sakura, i saw that they had lace patterned stickers and stuff, and i was like OHHH so that's how they achieve those patterns!
thank you very much for following ^__^ love your nails! and your phone cover :D too bad they didn't have ribbons at that salon but the flower looks just as pretty C:
